The specific objective of this work is to generate knowledge about adaptation strategies for climate change in large coastal cities subject to flooding, based on the analysis and evaluation of the recent experience of urban interventions in the city of Rio de Janeiro, according to their potential contribution to urban resilience. The work builds upon the results of the research developed between February 2014 and February 2015, supported by FAPERJ, entitled "Urban Design and Planning for the Resilience of Areas Subject to Flooding in Rio de Janeiro, RJ". The research is developed within the scope of the Laboratory of Urbanism (U.Lab) and the Postgraduate Program in Architecture (PPGArq) of PUC-Rio.
