SOCIAL HOUSING EXHIBITION AND SEMINAR 2016 PUC-RIO

In 2020, Rio will host the 27th World Congress of Architects - UIA 2020 RIO bringing as title: "All worlds. One world. Architecture 21". The theme of the congress will focus on the role of architecture keeping in mind the urban reality of the contemporary world.

Given the importance of the issue and in the context of the preparation for realization of the UIA Congress in 2020, the top architecture educational institutions and state urban development of Rio de Janeiro and the Institute of Brazil-RJ Architects (IAB-RJ) decided to investigate how the social housing has been reflected in the formation of future Brazilian architects. In May 2016 it was organized an exhibition on the university production in social housing - EXPO 2016- HIS UIA 2020 RIO, bringing together 25 works from 8 higher education institutions of the state of Rio de Janeiro held in the year 2015. As of this referral event, defined the proposal that this exhibition was itinerant, always accompanied by a seminar for advancing this reflection. Exposed the IAB in May and June 2016, and FAU-UFRJ in July 2016, this exhibition now comes to PUC-Rio where it will be exposed on stilts Leme 19-30 September in front of the stairs and elevators near Bleacher .

We would like to invite you to the EXPO exhibition and seminar HIS UIA 2016- 2020 RIO scheduled for the day 09/28/16 9:00 hrs to 17:00 hrs in the auditorium Padre Anchieta, located on the ground floor of Building Cardinal Leme. On this day we will be bringing together teachers from other architectural educational institutions and state urban planning, the PUC Rio DAU- students and PUC-Rio teachers in other fields to discuss the issue of social housing, informal settlements and marginalized populations, seeking to make a assessment of the role of the university in the future of cities. The seminar will take place at PUC-Rio seeks to advance on this debate, discussing the role of interdisciplinarity in the educational process related to this issue. We believe that within the discussion of curriculum reform will happen in the DAU this year, it will be an excellent opportunity to debate. We count on your presence!
